Mahoning Valley pizza establishments are donating their time and talent to present their tastiest pizzas and compete in a contest for the title of "Maestro Di Cucina!" The Mahoning Valley Pizza Cook-Off, a fundraiser to benefit the Potential Development Program Inc., will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 21 at The Embassy on Youngstown-Poland Road.

Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at www.mvpizzacookoff.com or by calling 330-788-0588. Reserved tables of eight are also available by calling 330-788-0588. Each ticket includes two slices of pizza and a small salad. Additional pizza can be purchased at the event and there will also be a cash bar.

Along with musical entertainment and many exciting items in the Chinese and silent auctions, there will also be a pizza judging contest with local celebrity judges that include YSU football coach Eric Wolford, State Sen. Joe Schiavoni, United Way Executive Director Bob Hannon, WKBN weathercaster Rich Morgan and WYTV News anchor Stan Boney. Large screen TVs, courtesy of Semach's Northside Television, will be airing March Madness games during the event.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Potential Development Program, Inc., which provides preschool and grades k-8 education for local children with Autism and special needs. Children receive individualized educational services as well as speech, occupational and physical therapies.

"The Potential Development Program is a private non-profit agency that has been serving local children with Autism and other developmental delays for over 50 years," said Paul Garchar, executive director of the Potential Development Program/School for Autism. "We have been experiencing a growing demand for our programs, and because we provide services to all children regardless of their ability to pay, this fundraiser was developed to help us meet the increasing needs of our children."

Local pizzerias participating in The Mahoning Valley Pizza Cook Off include: Avalon Gardens, Belleria Pizza & Italian Restaurant, Bruno Bros. Pizza, Cocca's Pizza, Gordy's Tuscan Cucina, Ianazone's Pizza, Inner Circle Pizza, Pizza Joe's, Sunrise Inn, Strikers, Tangier Bar & Pizza, Wedgewood Fernando's Pizza and Westgate Pizza.
